Science Communication and Public Relations Officer (m/f/d, TV-L E13, 100%)

The position should start on January 1st, 2026 and is limited until December 31st, 2032 (project duration).

The HUMAN ORIGINS Cluster of Excellence researches the last five million years of human history and combines scientific, archaeological, and humanities approaches. As part of our team, you will coordinate internal and external communication of our topics, research processes and the findings obtained in the cluster.

Your tasks and activities will include:

• Developing and implementing an overall strategy for the Cluster of Excellence "HUMAN ORIGINS" public relations work including a social media strategy in coordination with the Central Public Relations Department and the Cluster Management
• Collaborating with the Central Public Relations Department and other offices of the University of Tübingen and the partner institutions to ensure consistent messaging and achieving of the communication goals (interface function)
• Coordination and implementation of target-group oriented Public Engagement formats and events
• Coordination of event formats to communicate research to various audiences
• Managing media inquiries and interview requests, monitoring media coverage and preparing media reports
• Tailoring complex research findings for various audiences (specialist audience, general public, policy makers, industry, staff)
• Planning, organisation and follow-up of events organised by the Cluster
• Drafting press releases, feature articles, and other texts for print and online media
• Advising on communication strategy

The requirements profile:

• Successfully completed academic university degree (master’s or diploma)
• Relevant professional experience in press and public relations, especially in the field of social media
• Interest in the topic of the Cluster of Excellence and ability to communicate scientific topics from the field in an understandable way
• Enjoy direct exchange with the scientists involved.
• Stylistically confident in written and oral expression, both in German and English
• Highly team-oriented and communicative
• Organizational talent with a structured and forward-looking approach to work and the ability to maintain an overview even under high workloads
• Reliability and diligence, as well as loyalty and a committed and solution-oriented approach to thinking and acting
• A friendly, engaging, and confident manner
