AI:AT is a joint project of AIT and Advanced Computing Austria. It brings together top-level expertise in high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and data ecosystems, creating an interdisciplinary innovation environment for research, development, start-ups, and industrial projects.

AI:AT – the AI Factory Austria – provides access to cutting-edge AI infrastructure, promotes trustworthy AI and ethical standards, and serves as a hub for networking with national and European partners. The goal is to work with partners from industry and public institutions to develop and implement forward-looking AI technologies and viable AI solutions.

As part of the collaboration within the AI Factory Austria, the Austrian Institute of Technology will delegate experts to the AI Factory Austria. For our location in Vienna ( Karl-Farkas-Gasse, 1030) , we are seeking a:

• You are responsible for the strategic development of the service catalog for AI infrastructure, model development, data pipelines, evaluation, MLOps, and trustworthy AI; you maintain roadmaps, SLAs, and documentation, and jointly develop a balanced portfolio of AI service concepts with partner organisations, industry, and public institutions.
• You develop hands-on reference workflows (LLM fine-tuning, RAG pipelines, AI agents, MLOps templates) and provide end-to-end support for partner projects.
• You continuously operate and improve the MLOps stack (CI/CD, orchestration, monitoring, cost control) on HPC and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
• You embed trustworthy AI practices, integrate bias, privacy, and security checks, and advise users on the EU AI regulation.

• You communicate AI services through workshops, tutorials, office hours, and presentations, thereby increasing their usage and visibility.
• You support the development of training programs in applied AI in cooperation with partner organisations.
• You ensure the sustainable implementation and exploitation of results (e.g., patents, licenses, company formation, technology transfer).
• When necessary, you represent AI Factory Austria in national and international expert committees, networks, and conferences, significantly contributing to the visibility and reputation of Austria as an AI hub.

Your qualifications:

• Completed degree (Master’s/PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
• Several years of experience in developing and operationalising ML/DL solutions (PyTorch, TensorFlow) on GPU/HPC systems
• Extensive expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI agents, prompt engineering, as well as domain-specific fine-tuning
• Proven practical experience in MLOps: Docker/Kubernetes, GitOps, MLflow/Kubeflow, observability stacks (Prometheus/Grafana, ELK)
• Experience with HPC schedulers (e.g., SLURM) and hybrid cloud architectures
• Practical experience with Responsible-AI-Frameworks and the EU-AI-Regulations
• Strong expertise in at least one of the following areas: Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision, time-series Analytics, Computational Audio Intelligence
• Experience with research and industry projects and/or knowledge of funding mechanisms and project financing is advantageous
• Excellent language skills in German and English
• You should be eligible for working in Austria

• The position is funded by the AI Factory Austria until June 2028. An extension beyond this period may be possible depending on future project developments.
