Head of R&D (m/f/x)

We are seeking a new Head of R&D to strengthen the company’s pipeline in the area of complex and innovative sterile injectables across multiple sites. The position holder will be responsible for pipeline innovation, formulation, process and analytical development and tech transfers. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background, experience in sterile injectables, and a track record of leading R&D teams in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the company’s R&D strategy
• Identify and prioritize innovative and value-added pipeline opportunities
• Lead formulation, process and analytical development for sterile injectables, including complex formulations (e.g., liposomal, depot injections, lyophilized, and emulsions)
• Guide teams in the scale-up, and tech transfer to manufacturing
• Adress in vivo and in vitro aspects of bioequivalence
• Manage IP challenges around patent filing, challenging or non-infringement
• Ensure compliance with FDA, EMA and other regulatory agency guidelines
• Work closely with RA, Quality, Manufacturing, and Portfolio teams
• Engage with external partners, CDMOs, and CROs for outsourced development
• Represent the company in conferences and regulatory meetings
• Foster a culture of innovation and excellence
• Oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and project timelines
• Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies

• Ph.D./M.Pharm/M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, with a focus on sterile injectables preferably with exposure to liposomal formulations, peptides, or novel drug delivery
• Proven track record in formulation and analytical development for complex injectables
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, QbD, cGMPs, ANDA and 505B(2) filings)
• Experience in leading R&D teams and managing multiple projects
• Proactive, dynamic and ambitious mindset
• Excellent leadership, problem solving and cross-functional collaboration skills
