Über diesen Job
Welcome to Interventional Systems!
We are an emerging leader in the innovation and clinical integration of smart robotic solutions for image-guided therapy and minimally invasive interventions. We develop medical robotics technologies and associated software solutions. With our headquarter in Austria and locations in southern Germany and Portugal, we strive to offer state-of-the-art medical products all over the world. That's challenging and that's why we need YOU!
Are you passionate about the medical device industry and looking to make a difference in people's lives? We are looking for an Electrical Engineer (f/m/d) to join our team. This position can either be based in Portugal (Espinho) or in Germany (Untermeitingen).
As an Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for the design, prototyping, testing and iterative development of electronic circuits and boards, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements and standards of our medical devices. This role also involves applying and continuously improving electronic design and control processes to support the company’s obligations as a medical device manufacturer.
Your Impact:
- Design & Development – Iterate through both circuit and board designs to create and optimize function, performance, safety, reliability and testability while ensuring the components’ longevity and supply assurance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with mechanical and software engineers to ensure seamless integration and alignment of the electronic design within the overall system.
- Specification Development – Translate product concepts and high-level requirements into electronic design specifications.
- Prototyping – Define prototyping strategies and oversee the timely, cost-effective development of prototypes that yield meaningful test data.
- Testing & Validation – Plan, execute (as needed), and document tests throughout the product lifecycle, designing test setups when necessary.
- Company-Wide Collaboration – Engage with product, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams to enhance product design or quality controls, optimize processes, conduct design transfers, ramp-up productions, debug problems, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Documentation – Support the creation and upkeep of technical documentation and design processes to facilitate proper design tracking, maintenance, and production transfer.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline (Master’s preferred), with hands-on experience in both analog and digital electronic circuit design and board design.
- Proficiency in using Altium Designer or similar design software.
- Experience with component selection and lifecycle management, using lab equipment to test circuit boards, board bring-up and problem root-cause analysis as well as prototyping, reworking and soldering on circuit boards.
- Able to record and to monitor key development decisions to maintain clarity and build a strong long-term knowledge base.
- Motivated to continuously learn and ability to work in a structured, increasingly independent manner, while managing your own time.
- Good in spoken and written English.
- Team oriented and reliable character.
Bonus Skills:
- Knowledge on STM microcontrollers.
- Experience interfacing with motors.
- Experience with interfaces such as UART, SPI, I²C, USB and Ethernet.
- Experience with signal integrity and noise mitigation techniques.
- Experience with stack-up design, impedance control and EMC.
- Experience creating test setups and automated test procedures.
- Knowledge on firmware design both barebone and FreeRTOS.
- Experience with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
- Knowledgeable on IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2 standards.
What’s In It For You:
- Work with cutting‑edge tech that directly improves patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with an international team shaping the future of medical robotics.
- Flexible hours, home office options, and a supportive, innovative environment.
- A culture that values new ideas, ownership, and professional growth.
