Environmental Laboratory Intern (m/w/d)

As an Environmental Laboratory Intern in the Product Safety Science Labs CoE, you will contribute to the implementation of OECD Test Guidelines 123 and 107 within our laboratory. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in regulatory testing and method development in a dynamic, innovative environment.

In this exciting role you will :

  • Set-up and validate the laboratory procedures for determining the Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water) in accordance with OECD 123 (Slow-Stirring Method) and OECD 107 (Shake Flask Method).
  • Perform experimental work, data analysis, and documentation to support method development and regulatory compliance. Ensure smooth execution of testing protocols, including sample preparation, instrument calibration, and result reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records of procedures, results, and observations in line with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Work closely with scientists and regulatory experts to understand the broader context and impact of your work.

Your success profile includes:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related scientific field ;
  • Strong academic background in analytical chemistry and laboratory techniques ;
  • Familiarity with chromatographic techniques (e.g., LC-MS, GC-FID) and mass spectrometry to quantify dissolved organic substances in aqueous and organic media ;
  • Understanding of method validation ;
  • Good skills with MS office and Google App. Experience with chromatographic data software such OpenLab would be an asset ;
  • Fluent in English and French (written and spoken) ;
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude ;
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a GLP-compliant environment.
