Hospitality AI comes with real constraints: guests messaging in a dozen languages at 2am, PMS systems that predate the smartphone, GDPR obligations that can't be hand-waved away, and hotel staff with zero tolerance for tools that slow them down. If domain-specific AI - where the problem shapes the solution - excites you more than generic benchmarks, you'll fit right in.

As an AI Researcher, you'll be joining an FFG-funded research project focused on applying LLMs and deep learning to real-world hospitality challenges. This is a playground for experimentation with direct product impact - not a sandbox that feeds into a roadmap three quarters from now.

Tasks

• AI Research & Development: Design and build AI solutions with a focus on LLMs, RAG pipelines, and deep learning. Own the full arc - from early hypothesis through prototyping, evaluation, and production. You'll be expected to move fast and learn faster.
• Data Science & Analytics: Work with complex, real-world datasets. Build pipelines, run analysis, create visualizations that actually communicate something. Model quality starts with data quality and you know that.
• Engineering: Write clean, efficient code for research experiments and prototypes. Our stack is Node/TypeScript - everything we build eventually lands there, though we're not dogmatic about how you get to a working idea.
• Collaboration: Work closely with a small, passionate team to turn research into shipped product. Stay current on the AI landscape, challenge assumptions - including ours - and bring new methods to the table.

Requirements

• Background: 4+ years as a software engineer with a strong backend focus. You've built things end-to-end and understand what production actually means.
• AI: 3 years of hands-on AI experience is ideal, but genuine depth beats a long CV. You've built real LLM applications - RAG pipelines, vector databases, embedding strategies, agent architectures, tool-use patterns. You understand the tradeoffs between prompting, fine-tuning, and retrieval. You've worked with evaluation frameworks and know how to measure whether something actually works. Structured outputs, function calling, multi-turn conversation state - none of this is new to you.
• Stack: TypeScript/JavaScript is non-negotiable. If you bring Python experience and want to use it for experimentation, great - but production lives in TS.
• Data Science: You're comfortable moving between data analysis, visualization, and statistical reasoning - not just running notebooks but knowing what questions to ask.
• Soft Skills: You learn on the fly, adapt quickly and know when to ask for help. Independent enough to own a problem, collaborative enough to ship it. Collaborative to accept other opinions.
• Languages: Strong English is essential. German is a genuine plus given our team and client base.
