Your tasks
- Develop advanced constitutive models for chemo-mechanical coupling in clay systems and its extension to generic T-H-M-C numerical codes.
- Support the planning of experimental programs and interpretation of results from chemo-mechanical experiments conducted at LES/PSI, LMS/EPFL and underground research laboratories (e.g., Mont Terri URL).
- Apply developed models in geoengineering problems such as geological disposal of radioactive waste, CO2-sequestration and geo-energy.
- Collaborate with PSI and EPFL colleagues, and partners nationally and internationally, to deliver and publish the scientific outcomes of major research initiatives.
Your profile
- You are experienced in numerical modelling and simulation of coupled T-H-M-C processes in clay based engineered barrier systems.
- Experience with numerical algorithms (also open source) for 1D/3D simulations is expected.
- You have a strong interest in supporting, and collaborating on, the multiscale multi-physical experimental studies of chemo-mechanical coupling in clays systems conducted at EPFL and PSI.
- You can offer innovative thinking and a strong motivation to launch and lead multi-national collaborative projects. Excellent knowledge of English is required, and knowledge of German or French is beneficial.
- You have a PhD degree in a relevant discipline and at least 2 years of post-doctoral research experience or equivalent.
