Your Role:

As Counsel Sanctions Compliance, you play a strategic role in overseeing the organization’s compliance with international sanctions regulations. You are responsible for providing legal advice and guidance on sanctions compliance matters, conducting comprehensive risk assessments, and developing and implementing policies and procedures to mitigate potential sanctions-related risks. Collaborating closely with various departments -including Legal, Compliance, Finance and Operations- you ensure that all business activities align with international trade laws and sanctions regimes.

In this position, you coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with export control regulations while aligning licensing strategies with our business objectives. You also develop and implement internal compliance programs, coordinate licensing initiatives, and monitor performance metrics related to both export control and sanctions activities.

Your responsibilities include preparing and presenting reports to senior management on program status and compliance issues, as well as liaising with external legal counsel and regulatory bodies. You facilitate regular process reviews with stakeholders and coordinate training and awareness programs to foster a culture of compliance throughout the organization. Your role is crucial in ensuring that the organization navigates the complexities of sanctions regulations effectively while supporting its overall business strategy.

Who You Are:

  • You hold a law degree and possess at least 5 years of experience in trade compliance and export controls, preferably within the life sciences, semiconductor industry, or related fields.
  • You possess in-depth knowledge of export control regulations and sanctions laws applicable in the EU and the USA, allowing you to effectively advise on compliance matters.
  • Your strong project management skills and proven ability to lead cross-functional teams are essential for success in this role.
  • You have excellent communication skills, enabling you to interact effectively with various stakeholders and present complex information clearly.
  • You are proactive, detail-oriented, and adept at navigating complex regulatory environments, with a strong understanding of the implications of licensing on business operations.
  • Fluency in English is required; familiarity with additional languages will be advantageous.

What we offer: We are curious minds that come from a broad range of backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences.
