To support our team at the Institute for Medical Laboratory Diagnostics at the Wuppertal Barmen site, we are looking for a

Section Head (m/f/d) "Clinical Microbiology" combined with a professorship for Clinical Microbiology at the Chair of Microbiology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Witten/Herdecke

Responsibility for the development and implementation of microbiological diagnostics

Representation and development of the field also in the area of research and teaching

Participation in the development of the Faculty of Health in this sense

A completed habilitation or comparable scientific qualification demonstrating outstanding expertise in the field is required as a prerequisite for appointment to the professorship

Recognition as a specialist (m/f/d) in microbiology, virology and infection epidemiology is also required

The applicant (m/f/d) should have demonstrable experience in the management of microbiological diagnostic laboratories and ideally have already been responsible for the strategic development of diagnostic procedures

Outstanding scientific achievements, documented by publications in renowned journals, as well as proven experience in successfully acquiring third-party funding are also expected

In addition, a high level of commitment to academic teaching is required. This includes not only experience with innovative teaching methods, but also a strong willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments and institutions

A professorship for clinical microbiology is to be established at the Chair of Microbiology and Laboratory Medicine (Prof. Dr. Parviz Ahmad-Nejad) at Witten/Herdecke University. The professorship is linked to the management of microbiological diagnostics within the Institute for Medical Laboratory Diagnostics (Director: Prof. Dr. Parviz Ahmad-Nejad).

The IML currently provides microbiological care for over 3,000 beds and actively participates in interdisciplinary ABS rounds. The laboratory is accredited in accordance with DIN ISO 17025 for hygiene-related tests and DIN ISO 15189 for medical diagnostics.
