On behalf of our customer, a medium-sized technology company headquartered in the Zurich area, we are seeking the Chief Financial Officer (f/m):

Responsibilities:

• Prepare the annual budget in consultation with CEO & COO
• Ensure budgetary compliance through cost analysis support
• Control over the cash flow position of company; develop and maintain financial accounting and bookkeeping systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash
• Oversee the timely and accurate management and coordination of all financial reporting activities for the organization, including organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, reports to the Board of Directors, preparation and monitoring of research/consortium contract and grant budgets
• Manage internal and external audit processes
• Oversee commercial finance related activities, including negotiations with vendors and customers, and approve agreements concerning financial obligations, such as contracts for raw material procurement, IT assets, and services, employee contracts, and other actions requiring a commitment of financial resources
• Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting as compared to budget
• Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
• Financing: Establish and execute programs for the raise/sourcing of capital required by company, including negotiating the procurement of debt and equity capital (through venture capital, private equity, or other innovative funding options) and maintain the required financial arrangements. Optimise deployment of surplus cash/investments
• Tax: Assume responsibility for compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations
• Legal & Compliance: Ensure that company conducts its business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Participate in the development of corporate policies, procedures and programs and provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal implications of various matters. Select, retain and manage external legal advisors/counsel as may be required
• Manage payroll preparation and administration
• Hire and manage a team of 1-2 direct reports (medium-term)

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience as Financial Controller or Chief Financial Officer
• 10-12 years of financial management experience with the day-to-day financial operations of a medium-sized, producing technology company
• Proven financing and fundraising experience, preferably gained in a start-up company
• Proven leadership experience
• Experience in overseeing tax and legal/compliance functions would be desirable
• Fluency in English; very good German knowledge
• Interest in, and understanding of, scientific and technological developments
• Strong analytical skills and ability to deliver high-quality results in volatile surroundings and under time pressure
• Experience in working within a multicultural environment
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to anticipate the needs of stakeholders
• Self-driven, open minded personality with hands-on mentality
• Experience with relevant office IT systems (MS Office etc.)
• Willingness to travel occasionally
