ETH Zurich is pleased to announce openings for a postdoc in economics and data science . These positions offer an excellent opportunity to advance independent research within a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment at one of the world’s top research institutions.

About the Position: The postdoc will join the lab of Prof. Elliott Ash and contribute to lab projects while developing an independent research profile. The position is for an initial one-year appointment (flexible start date), with the expectation of renewal based on performance and mutual agreement. The candidate will build up a strong portfolio for subsequent transition to a tenure-track position within three years.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and participate in all phases of research, including project planning, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
• Produce research and papers for presentation at conferences and publication at top-ranked economics journals.
• Supervise a research team building AI-based mobile apps for use in field experiments.
• Contribute to preparation of grant proposals, minimal teaching, and organizational duties, for example our annual Workshop in AI+Economics .

Preferred Qualifications:

• A PhD in Economics or a related field with an established research background.
• Excellent English writing skills.
• Strong skills in econometrics, causal inference, and research design for applied economics.
• Proficiency in applied data science -- AI, LLMs, NLP, ML -- using Python, Torch, and Huggingface.
• Experience with mobile app development and deployment, especially apps that use LLMs, recommender systems, or other algorithms.
