For our client, a multinational food engineering group headquartered in the greater Zürich area, we are seeking, immediately or by arrangement, a ‘Process Engineer Insect Technology (80-100%)’. The draft job description reads as follows (with minor adjustments from us):
Responsibilities:
- Development and realization of process solutions for ventilation, air conditioning and exhaust air purification systems incl. energy recovery, which are used in innovative, large-scale industrial insect facilities. This includes the development of concepts for utilities such as steam, compressed air, hot and cold water
- Create project specific process flow diagrams (PFD & PID)
- Perform calculations and sizing of systems
- Create equipment and system specifications for inquiries, perform technical bid evaluations in close cooperation with procurement and review supplier documents during project execution
- Prepare process descriptions as input for automation engineers
- Commissioning activities on client site
- Further development of process-relevant ventilation, air conditioning and exhaust air purification systems incl. energy recovery for insect systems in close cooperation with the R&D and Operations team
- Additional tasks if of interest: Lead engineering studies for client feasibility
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in process engineering, mechanical engineering (focus on process engineering) or similar discipline
- At least 5 years of professional experience in the field of ventilation and air conditioning systems (or a similar field), preferably acquired in the food, feed, beverage, chemical industry or in building services engineering (focus on buildings with industrial production or logistics)
- Good written and oral communication skills in English (at least level B2-C1); German knowledge would be a plus
- Knowledge and experience in the following areas would be an advantage: (i) Front-end engineering, project execution and/or commissioning; (ii) Thermodynamics, preferably in the area of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and equipment concepts; (iii) Mechanical equipment, automation, biological processes
- Interest in the unique opportunity to use insects to convert organic waste into valuable proteins and lipids, thereby contributing to sustainable food and feed products
- Analytical, systematic way of thinking
- Proactive personality who is eager to contribute their knowledge
- Enjoys working in multidisciplinary, international teams
- Willingness to travel, mostly in Europe (approx. 10%)
- Eligibility to work permit in EU/EFTA area
