Research Associate 

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to support preclinical studies in gene therapy for nonmalignant hematology, including bleeding and thrombotic disorders as well as anemia. In this role, you will work with in vivo and ex vivo experimental platforms to evaluate safety, efficacy, and translatability of novel therapeutic candidates. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary research team, working with preclinical animal models and human patient-derived samples (blood and plasma).

This position requires hands-on expertise in animal experimentation, sample handling, and molecular/biochemical assays, along with the ability to independently run complex end-to-end studies.

Your Tasks:

  • Design, execute, and analyze a variety of in vivo experiments, including:
      • Intravenous injections
      • Blood and plasma collection
      • Bleeding and thrombosis models
  • Characterize gene therapy assets using molecular and biochemical assays, such as:
        • ELISA
        • Thrombin generation assays
        • Chromogenic assays
    • Handle and process patient-derived blood and plasma for in vitro and ex vivo studies
    • Perform data analysis, prepare study summaries, and present results to the project team
    • Maintain accurate experimental documentation and contribute to overall lab organization, safety, and inventory management

Your profile:

  • MSc or BSc in Life Sciences (e.g., molecular biology, immunology, pharmacology, coagulation) with 2–3 years of hands-on animal study experience
    • PhD applicants will not be considered
      OR
  • Completed apprenticeship as a Research Associate ("Lehrabschluss") with 4–5 years of academic or industry experience
  • Active LTK1 / FELASA (or equivalent) certification
  • Proven practical expertise in rodent handling, including:
    • Intravenous injections
    • Blood collection
  • Strong experience in experimental design, data analysis, and independent execution of in vivo studies
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in animal surgery
  • Knowledge of hemostasis, coagulation biology, and/or gene therapy
  • Hands-on experience with molecular and biochemical assays (ELISA, thrombin generation, chromogenic assays)
  • Previous industry experience
