We are looking for a part-time (on hourly basis) student assistant with a bachelor's degree to help us build an educational online platform for an Econometrics course at the University of Zurich. The platform will combine web-based lecture materials with interactive data visualizations and AI assistance for personalized learning.
The candidate will join the core team and will be involved in all stages of the project from brainstorming and planning through building and maintenance of the platform. This project is part of a broader teaching innovation initiative aiming to explore new tools and AI applications in higher education.
Your responsibilities
- Building and maintaining backend systems for AI-enhanced applications (e.g., using OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, LangChain, RAG pipelines)
Your profile
- Master's student enrolled at UZH or ETH
- Strong Python skills for prototyping in Streamlit and web building stack for a scalable architecture (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, etc.)
- Experience with data collection, user behavior tracking, and database management
- Experience with secure user authentication and data privacy (anonymization) workflows
- Familiarity with Docker, GitHub Actions, and general CI/CD workflows
- Interest in educational technologies and AI tools for learning

Time commitment:
~10–15 hrs/week from September to November
~5–10 hrs/month from December onwards (maintenance, feature upgrades)
