Capvent is a globally oriented firm with activities in Private Equity Fund of Funds and Private Global Finance such as Mezzanine and Distressed asset classes, as well as specific direct and co-investment programs in Asia. The firm was founded in July 2000 by founding partners Thomas Clausen and Varun Sood, colleagues at Société Générale Leveraged Finance in Europe and now manages and advises alternative investment programs of over $2.2Bn in size.

Our client list includes large U.S insurance companies and U.S asset management firms, sophisticated family offices, a large Japanese life insurance company, and one of Germany’s largest dedicated private equity asset managers.

Since its founding, Capvent has evaluated more than 3,000 PE groups globally and invested across 98 fund managers with different styles including leveraged buyout, mezzanine & growth capital, venture capital, distressed & turnaround, secondary opportunities and co-investments.

We are dedicated to obtaining Alpha returns and achieve this by focusing on the global middle market segment, favoring regions and subsectors that are underserved with capital but offer good potential for returns. We are present in the most active global PE markets with offices in the USA (Chicago), Europe (Zurich), and Asia where we have a a major presence in India (Bangalore, Mumbai, Panaji) as well as in China (Shanghai).

We are led by three highly qualified partners with significant private equity experience and supported by 23 investment professionals.

We advise and can create customized Fund of Funds programs that are region specific such as for Asia or Europe as well as Global programs. We work closely with our investors to offer them solutions to invest in these regions through a mix of co-mingled funds as well as separate accounts. This key focus on investor needs is at the heart of our investment strategy. It also makes us a highly research driven organization, with a very large proportion of our resources and manpower dedicated to investment and research, rather than administration and fund raising.
