Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Colantuono & Levin, PC, is a municipal law firm founded in 2001 by Michael Colantuono and Sandra Levin. The firm also has an office in Penn Valley and consists of more than a dozen lawyers. Prior to launching Colantuono & Levin, its founders both worked for large law firms. Colantuno & Levin represents California’s local governments on municipal revenue matters and handles litigation, writs, and appeals. Its litigation division is lead by Michael Colantuono, Sandra Levin, and Holly Whatley, all of whom have years of experience in local government civil litigation. The firm specializes in issues pertinent to Propositions 13, 26, 62, and 218.
Both Michael Colantuono and Sandra Levin have years of experience in public law issues. In 2010, Colantuono won the California State Bar’s Public Law Section’s Ronald M. George Public Lawyer of the Year Award. The award recognizes exceptional lawyers who display a high level of professionalism and ethical standards, as well as a dedication to public interest. Between 2003 and 2004, Colantuono was President of the City Attorney’s Department of the League of California Cities. During his tenure, he wrote the forward for Practicing Ethics: A Handbook for Municipal Lawyers, which was published in 2004.
With over 10 years in business, Colantuono & Levin has built a reputation as an advocate for local government. Its attorneys are experienced in election law, environmental regulations, and labor and employment, and they provide counsel for special districts within California.
