Over 25 years TechSAT GmbH is a reliable and competent partner of the aerospace industry, supporting aircraft systems development, integration, test, and maintenance with state-of-the-art equipment and services. As an expert for integration and verification, TechSAT is a major supplier for most large aerospace programs of the last two decades, among others Airbus A340, A380, A350, A400M, Boeing 777, 787, EFA, and Tiger.
Located in the south of Germany near Munich, TechSAT has a team of around 70 employees, primarily highly experienced systems, software, and electronics engineers. Additionally, TechSAT is present with sales and support offices in Hamburg, Seattle and Shanghai.
TechSAT’s core competence and main business segment is the design and development of turnkey solutions for integration, verification, and validation of aircraft systems including related consulting and services. In this market, TechSAT has succeeded in establishing itself as market leader in Germany with a strong international presence. TechSAT is one of the few companies worldwide that have the products and the experience needed to specify, design, and build an integrated test facility for a complete aircraft.
Key to TechSAT’s success is the ADS2 Product Family, a modular and scalable integrated software/hardware platform, which forms the basis for a wide range of real-time integration and test systems as well as smaller scale simulation and analysis systems. Since its initial development for the Boeing 777 program in the early nineties, the ADS2 Product Family has been continuously evolving to cope with the growing complexity of aircraft systems and to capitalize on progress in software and electronics technology.
Due to its unique competences and its emphasis on teamwork TechSAT has successfully positioned itself as a global industry leader, with most major aerospace companies being our customers.

What is unique about ADS2 Product Family?
The ADS2 Product Family constitutes a highly integrated and versatile platform designed to create generic or special purpose test systems for the aerospace industry. The unique characteristic of the ADS2 Product Family is its integral approach: It provides a complete solution supporting the customer’s test activities: V&V process, test methodology, generic test suites, test system core software and test system hardware platform.
Each ADS2 System is developed to specific customer needs from a set of standardized components. The development is based on a formal requirements engineering process compliant to aerospace standards (ARP4754A). Therefore systems are delivered with proper documentation and qualification evidence.
Test Suites
Specifically for the IMA Architecture, TechSAT offers on top of ADS2 a comprehensive set of tools for configuration and verification of IMA Platform Components and Systems.
The IMA Test Suite (IMATS) consists of a set of generic test suites configurable for specific IMA platforms and systems.
Platform Test Suites :
· Generic RDIU/RDC Test Suite: Used to verify an RDIU/RDC against its usage domain specification.
· Generic IPM Test Suite: Used to verify an ARINC653 based IMA Processor Module against its usage domain specification.
· Generic IMA Platform Interoperability Test Suite: Used to verify the interoperability of components of an IMA Platform in a typical IMA System Topology.
Configuration Test Suites :
· RDIU Configuration Test Suite: Used to verify the configuration of an RDIU/RDC against its specification
· IPM Configuration Test Suite: Used verify the configuration of an ARINC653 based IMA Processor Module against its specification.
· ADCN Configuration Test Suite: Used to verify a specific AFDX Network Configuration against its specification.
· IMA System Configuration Test Suite: Used to verify a complete IMA System Configuration against its specification.
The AFDX Test Suite consists of test applications for verification of AFDX system components:
· AFDX End System Test Suite: Used to verify the compliance of an AFDX End System to ARINC664 End System Functional Specification.
· AFDX Switch Test Suite: Used to verify the compliance of an AFDX Switch to ARINC664 Switch Functional Specification.
ICD Integration Tools
IMACT is a powerful support tool for design and configuration of IMA Systems. It takes the formalized usage domain specifications (UD) of IMA platform modules and the hosted function requirements (HFRQ) as input and generates the IMA system topology and data flow. After successful analysis and verification it can generate the configuration files for all IMA modules and the IMA system ICD for an IMA System.
IDCMS is an ICD Management System based on the same technology and data models like IMACT. It provides ICD import, export, extensive consistency checks, a graphical topology editor for the electrical ICD as well as configuration management, access control and user rights management.
ADS2 System Software
The ADS2 Core System Software constitutes the base for all test applications. It provides a data centric transparent real time access to distributed I/O, simulations and utilities. Specifically it supports:
· I/O support for all commonly used avionics busses and signal types
· Generic simulation integration framewo
· Data monitoring and visualization
· High speed high volume distributed data recording
· Real time data replay
· Offline data analysis with native and third party tools
· Central control and configuration of a distributed syste
· Open interfaces for integration of third party tools, simulations and I/O
· Interface for automatic testing and automatic configuration
ADS2/TPM is the generic test definition and management tool provided with ADS2. It supports definition of test cases in a high level form based language, automatic generation of executable test procedures from the high level specifications of the test cases. ADS2/TPM provides an interface to DOORS or other requirement management systems and supports automatically maintaining the traceability between requirements, test procedures and test results.
ADS2 Hardware Platform
Computing Platform
The newest ADS2 Computing Platform is based on COTS high performance PCIexpress computers, carefully selected and verified to work with the ADS2 system software and ADS2 hardware components.
I/O Support
For avionics busses TechSAT provides a family of I/O boards specifically designed for testing applications. All TechSAT bus interface boards are designed for interoperability and share common design elements like: driver interface, time stamping, FIFO data transfer, etc. For Interface types not supported with TechSAT boards TechSAT provides third party COTS products which are fully integrated into the ADS2 I/O Subsystem, i.e. the user does not have to deal with I/O resources on driver level.
The following avionics bus interfaces are supported with TechSAT Products:
· AFDX Simulation Board and AFDX Tap
· MILBUS1553
· ARINC429
· CAN/ARINC825
· RS422/232
For signal I/O TechSAT has developed the FAST product family. It consists of a set of Ethernet controlled modules combining signal stimulation, signal monitoring, signal routing, signal conditioning, basic error injection and signal breakout access integrated into one module. This high integration concept significantly simplifies system design, production and maintenance and thus reducing cost and schedule for test systems. The concept has been originally developed for the Airbus A350 Integration Benches. The following FAST module types are available:
· Avionics discretes (28V/Open, Grnd/Open)
· Analog I/O (Voltage, Current)
· Programmable Load Simulation
· Resistive Sensor Simulation (PT100, PT500, PT1000, NTC, Potentiometer, etc.)
· Signal Routing and Switching for low (up to 1MHz) and high frequency (up to 100MHz) signals.
An important category of integration tests are the verification of behavior at power failures as well as loss of equipment. For this kind of tests, TechSAT provides a set of products for power distribution, control and monitoring. These are:
· Programmable power supplies various capacity for DC and AC (Third party products)
· FAST/PXU: Power control and monitoring for medium power (28VDC, 10A)
· FAST/HPXU:Power control and monitoring for high power channels (28V, 40A)
Error Injection
For wire level electrical error injection TechSAT provides an integrated Fault Insertion and Breakout Unit (FIBO). It can generate various electrical errors at wire level (open circuit, short circuit, isolation failure, etc.) and can also switch signal to external equipment (i.e. DMM) for special measurements or signal manipulation.
All ADS2 hardware modules are accessible through a uniform distributed data layer from ADS2 utilities, simulations and other applications.
Summary
The ADS2 Product Family is more than computers and I/O boards with drivers and a data acquisition and stimulation application. It is a complete integrated solution supporting avionics system development and verification at equipment, system or aircraft level. It is drawing from the experience of hundreds of real aerospace testing projects worldwide. While it makes use of COTS products where possible, a series of unique components developed by TechSAT are used to efficiently build test systems of high quality and performance at a competitive price.
