Multiphysics Simulations at Microsystem Technologies, Sensor Systems

Performed multidisciplinary simulations: Linear and non-linear Structural Analysis; Optics, ray tracing; Magnetostatics; High frequency (antenna) analysis; Thermal analysis of electronic devices; Parametric design exploration and optimization.

Developed innovative flow strategies and new hardware designs for ASML lithography technology. Simulated multiphysics phenomena such as: plasma-gas interaction, multicomponent gas diffusive and convective transport, thermodynamics, vapor deposition at solid surfaces, particles transport, chemical reactions of gas species, rarefied gas regimes and microfluidics, gas-liquid multiphase flow.

Performed multiphysics modeling with applications to Philips consumer products and ASML lithography machines: - CFD simulations of multi-body systems at motion and at vibration. - Calculations of acoustic loads in closed compartments. - Optimization of hardware for flow induced vibration minimization. - Sub-Kelvin thermal conditioning of electronics compartments. - Aerodynamics and noise analysis. - Capillary flow calculation.

- Performend aerodynamic analysis of gas turbine hot section: blades, nozzles, combustion chambers. - Constructed 1D flow-thermal network model of complete gas turbine engine cooling and sealing system. Tunned the modeled individual elements by flow tests and CFD simulations. - Combustion reactions and emissions CFD simulations. Modeled partially premixed flames with application to the development of a low emission combustion system.

- Produced aerodynamic designs of centrifugal compressors based on test data, 1D, 2D and 3D CFD analysis. - Developed computer programs, scripts and macros to aid in compressor aerodynamic sizing, impeller and diffuser geometry definition, database processing, CAD-CFD integration.
