Investigation of the neurotoxic effects of amphetamine derivatives. Selection of optimal methods, recommendation of suitable equipment and protocol development for analysis of drugs and their metabolites. Installed and administered software and hardware and instructed colleagues in their use.

Thesis: “An investigation of the acute and longer-term effects of 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA; 'Ecstasy')” Publication of research in peer-reviewed journals and at international neuroscience conferences.

Thesis: “A correlation between genetic variation and the neurodegenerative process?”. Subjects studied: molecular neuropharmacology, the aging brain, functional organisation of the CNS, neuromuscular systems in health and disease, neuropharmacology and neurodegeneration.

Subjects studied: human-, tissue- and cellular- physiology, pharmacology, neuropathology, adaptations to stress, biological-, cognitive-, health- and abnormal- psychology, statistical and experimental methods in psychology.
