Entwicklung und Evaluierung von Erdbeobachtungs-Missionen in Rahmen diverser Europäischer Programme (Earth Explores Core Missions, Opportunity Missions, GMES aka Kopernikus). Momentaner Schwerpunkt Atmosphären Fernerkundung im Bereich Short Wave Infrared und Microwave.

Organisation and implementation of a cross validation project (ROPIC), for identifying possible shortcomings and/or strengths of different algorithms and processing chains used within the RO (Radio Occultation) community.

Development of climate monitoring products based on METOP/GRAS data. Adoption of a 3D-VAR system to run on a high performance computing grid (ESA’s Grid on Demand), with support from ESA.

Organisation and Implementation of a DIAL Ozone Measurement Campaign in Berlin.

Satellite Navigation Systems, GNSS Radio Occultation Technique, Data Assimilation, Numerical Optimisation, Statistics and Data Analysis, Fortran, C, C++, IDL, MATLAB programming. Experience with Unix, SunOS, Linux, Office Applications, MS-Windows, and MS-DOS operating systems.

Curriculum covering all areas of space flight from medical aspects to project management with a focus on space system analysis and design.

Optics, non linear optics, solid state lasers, especially their application within spectroscopy, LIDAR and DIAL frameworks for reote sensing applications (trace gas detection).
