Responsible for leading and managing a team of buyers, ongoing management of purchasing strategy, activity and ensuring optimal supplier performance and price. Implement a strategy to ensure the function is operating in line with the objectives of the business, mitigate supply chain risk and deliver cost savings. Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships and manage the development of contracts, contractual relationships and contract management to deliver continuous improvement.

Recruited for Green Field company start-up, reporting to Managing Director, directly responsible for the total supply chain management of the company, supplier relations and purchasing of stock materials and special products for back to back orders. Strategic purchasing decisions with Group Chairman and Managing Director to maintain stock levels and profile of $3.5M stock. International and domestic negotiations with suppliers, reduced into stock prices by average of 15% through strong negotiations skills.

Strategic ownership and management of $8M of stock, purchasing and implementation of corporate strategy responsible for order placement timing, supply/demand alignment, material replenishment and supplier performance to match sales and production requirements. Continuously monitoring, evaluating and improving supplier performance. Sourcing the most suitable materials for the company’s manufacturing process to maximise the profitability. Demonstrated abilities in implementing stringent purchasing controls.
