Recruited by a visionary President as 1 of 3 key executives from outside the industry to introduce a fresh leadership perspective, and drive fundamental culture changes across the enterprise. Cliff Dodd, Kaiser CIO, was charged with leveraging technology to drive new business solutions, process efficiency and performance results. Subsequently given oversight for 2 disparate operations, comprised of 8K clerical and technical employees, and a $2B operating budget.

In the midst of Qwest’s acquisition of US West, Cliff Dodd was recruited to lead the integration of disparate IT systems across the 2 businesses in tandem with creating a fully integrated billing operation based on the model deployed at Ameritech/AT&T. As Qwest CIO, Cliff Dodd led a 9-person senior staff, 6K+ employees in IT and billing operations, and managed a $1.2B operating budget.

Recruited to join the CEO’s executive leadership team and moved into a new industry undergoing significant transformation. Cliff Dodd was given full autonomy to lead change management initiatives that for the first time would bring together disparate operations and systems into a single cohesive structure capable of supporting multiple service offerings and rapid growth. Based on success, Cliff Dodd was promoted to Ameritech CIO overseeing upwards of 5K employees and $1.3B annual budget.

Cliff Dodd’s career at American Express was a fast paced progression of strategically important roles from large scale operations management to the delivery of precedent setting image technology that enabled AMEX to maintain its differentiation in the card market for years. Cliff Dodd ultimately held complete oversight for all systems and software development managing 1.1K employees, external vendors, 3 development locations and $120M annual budget. Reported to the CIO.
