Principal Systems Engineer - Functional Safety
As a technical team lead and systems engineering expert, I hold end-to-end responsibility for power electronics architecture in electric drivetrains, focusing on intrinsic safety and product liability. I lead a 5-member team, coordinate interdisciplinary domains, and serve as the interface to premium OEMs. I develop system architecture (MBSE, DOORS) and safety-critical functions (ISO 26262, Simulink), ensuring ASPICE and DevOps compliance. I have successfully led series industrializations for major OEMs.

Expert System and Software Engineer - Functional Safety
As an expert in real-time embedded systems, I developed thermal models and safety derating strategies for e-powertrain components. I led model-based development (MATLAB/Simulink) of thermal protection and torque derating to meet ISO 26262 goals. As process owner, I ensured ASPICE & DevOps compliance and supported audits. I also optimized a parameter identification toolchain, reducing test time. I successfully led industrialization for leading German OEMs.
- 1 Jahr und 9 Monate, Aug. 2016 - Apr. 2018Robert Bosch Elektronik GmbH
Software System Designer and Function Developer
As a Software System Designer & Function Developer, I guided embedded software projects for German OEMs from concept to SOP. I implemented requirements for electrical interfaces per AUTOSAR & ASPICE standards, ensuring an audited integration process. I coordinated new feature development (e.g., thermal safety) in an international team, focusing on DevOps. I ensured software quality via MISRA rules & SIL compliance. I also developed & tested the safety-critical "Parking Lock" function.

Systems Engineer / Simulation Engineer / System Design
As a system developer for body electronics, I contributed to power net systems and HV components for global OEMs. I led multi-objective optimization (efficiency, EMC, cost) of a DC/DC converter for a German premium OEM's mild-hybrid, designing its control system. I also created a key technology demonstrator prototype. My work involved V&V on test benches and in-vehicle. A cost-benefit analysis I conducted proved an emission reduction of up to 6%. My co-developed DC/DC converter reached SOP.
My academic projects focused on model-based development (MATLAB/Simulink) of power electronics. I designed a complete control chain for an electric railway drive, from grid to wheel. I also modeled HVDC grids for integrating renewables, analyzing system stability with DFIG/PMSG and M²C converters. Further work included developing advanced space vector modulation (SVM) for Modular Multilevel Matrix (M³C) and direct matrix converters, focusing on control algorithms and voltage balancing.
For my Master's thesis at Liebherr, I developed and validated the complete control system for a 3-level NPC inverter for aerospace. I handled the entire process, from MATLAB/Simulink simulation to C/C++ implementation on a real-time DSP. I successfully commissioned the inverter on a test bench, validating high-precision current control and a neutral-point stabilization algorithm. I optimized the system for efficiency, EMC, and signal quality (THD), creating a robust platform for next-gen drives.
To solve a critical hardware ID issue in rail traction converters, I developed firmware to store metadata on the modules. I defined the data structure, programmed robust read/write functions in Embedded C with CRC checks, and validated it on target hardware. The result is a reliable system that improves traceability and maintainability, enabling faster root cause analysis. Key Tech: Embedded C, Freescale MCUs, I²C, SPI, UART, Debugging.

Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter - Teaching Assistant
In this role, I had the opportunity to take on initial responsibilities in an academic setting and support my fellow students in the Digital Engineering Lab. I guided students through practical lab experiments, helping them understand and debug complex digital circuits. As a tutor, I was co-responsible for grading and evaluating lab reports and exams, which also deepened my own subject matter expertise. Additionally, I handled organizational tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the lab sessions.
