Duties include assisting fellow engineers on office work and field work. Offices duties include answering the phone, making small changes to word and excel documents, labeling and mailing. Field work includes assisting engineers on small projects such as the collection, classification and documentation of soil sample from project sites, and assistance with percolation tests.

Duties included field work and office work. Field work consisted of on-site work such as gathering soil samples obtained from Shelby tubes from a soil boring through the use of a hollow stem auger, and the visually classifying the soil found on site as well as logging the information. Office work consisted of writing geotechnical reports and proposals and reviewing density and concrete reports for quality assurance purposes.

Duties included teaching the weekly laboratory sessions of soil mechanics to junior civil engineering students. Guided students through their laboratory assignments and calculations, graded their laboratory reports and quizzes, and enforced the safety lab practices during the testing.

Duties included evaluating a number of 1/10-mile-long pavement sections of state-maintained highways throughout the southern part of New Mexico. The evaluation consisted of rating the severity and extent of the pavement distresses according to the NMDOT distress evaluation criteria. Full-time position; evaluated about 1,250 sections.

Duties included assisting the engineers with the review of plats and plans, the determination of base flood elevations, and the creation of base flood elevations and agreements. Also inspected storm drains as well as located any new drains that were not yet in the system.

Duties included doing surveying work using a Total Station, measuring and staking every 150 feet on selected national forest trails, and taking cross sections of each culvert located along the trails using a cloth or steel tape and a clinometers. Initiated the design process for a culvert replacement and also performed other basic office duties.
