My Ph.D. study was performed in close collaboration with an industrial partner, with the intention of investigating microorganisms indigenous to oil reservoirs and to find new strategies against detrimental microbial activities during oil recovery (souring, corrosion, etc.). Next to that also benefical effects of microorganisms on oil production, like microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR), were examined in this project.
