Avionic Systems Engineering in support of the E-SCAN RADAR for the Eurofighter Programme.

In country (Germany) support provided to the Technical manager based in the UK. Chairmanship of the multi-nation Equipment Management Review meeting focussing directly on equipment Management of major Avionic equipment across the 4 Nation Rig and Flight Test Centres. Support role also accepted to the Eurofighter based EMH Technical Manager provided.

This role was completed within an established Team working a System design functioning within the wider Aircraft Avionic System. As a new member to the Team my role was to assimilate the key issues to be resolved to assist with identification of required changes. Primary support to design document review and the Change Control related documentation to correctly capture the latest System Design functions leading to Flight Certification and In Service delivery to the Customer.

Primary technical point of contact for all queries associated with assigned equipment on the Eurofighter Aircraft. Supplier liaison technical lead for resolution of problems identified (where confirmed) and review of technical documentation leading to flight certification and clearance. This role involved with Suppliers from Italy and Germany however the primary language spoken was English.

This was a BAE SYSTEMS position completed in EADS (Immenstaad, Germany) working directly with the equipment Supplier and the Design Engineers.

Primary engineering contact for all issues associated with the design, development, integration and flight clearance certification related documents associated with various avionic equipment within the Eurofighter Aircraft.

Responsible for the development and implementation of a Systems Integration verification Test Procedure to test and verify correct S/W operation of the Fuel Gauging System. Error handling was also verified as part of the test philosophy implemented. Design change also implemented using a requirements capture based tool (CORE) to modify the Test Environment running the Fuel Gauging S/W.

Avionic lead engineer with In-Service Customer, responsible for Aircraft Flight Line preparation activities and required avionic related aircraft maintenance tasks post flight.

Student placement (One Year) at RAE Aberporth tasked with the design, development, build and installation of a data transmission system (Task achieved). On installation the system was fully documented and a second, portable version was design and also completed.

Post graduate part time study course taking modules various subjects associated with Aerospace and Systems Design.

Part Time course taken at night school (2 evenings per week for one year) whilst working full time work with BAE SYSTEMS.

Part Time course completed at night school (2 nights per week for one year) whilst working full time with BAE SYSTEMS in Hull.

A one year Industrial placement role was completed at the Royal Aerospace Establishment (RAE) in West Wales working in the main RADAR buildings. Project assignment successfully completed and a second, portable design was also devised and completed before this position concluded.

This was an Engineering based alternative to the more traditional Advanced Level (A Level) Study option within the UK. I also improved the Grade of the Physics O Level achieved previously during this time (separate, part time home study completed before taking the exam again).

This period covers the final phase of compulsory education within the UK and resulted in completion of 8x Ordinary Level (O Level) Grades being completed (Maths, English, History, Physics, Chemistry, French, Spanish and Humanities).
