In the group of Personalized Radiation Therapy I worked with two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) cell culture methods for studying cellular radiation response. My work involved lentiviral overexpression and knockdown of an oncogenic microRNA and experimental techniques such as qPCR analysis, CellTiter-Glo proliferation assays, cell cycle (FACS) and 3D microtissue growth analysis, fluorescent microscopy and migration and invasion assays.

In the group of Personalized Radiation Therapy I worked with two dimensional (2D) cell culture methods for studying cellular radiation response. Using Bromouridine (BrU) I labeled cellular RNA in vivo and visualized the location of BrU-RNA in the cell via immunohistochemical staining followed by fluorescent microscopy. I created an expression profile of a gene and a long non-coding RNA using qPCR analysis based on isolated BrU-RNA.

My work accompanied a PhD project with the aim to develop a pig prostatic and mammary gland cancer model by the usage of a tissue specific promoter. I got expertise in vector design, cloning techniques and sequencing.

In my project I synthesized, purified and characterized two mutants of an ion channel, important in the symbiotic interaction of legumes. Using bioinformatic software I identified functional domains of the proteins and used homology modeling to look into their three dimensional structure. To describe the conduction properties I performed electrophysiological measurements on single ion molecules using a small patch clamp rig.
