Working for major European telecommunications cloud provider. Continuing the project started while working at Canonical. Development, knowledge transfer, maintenance and operations of a major pan-European cloud infrastructure. (Details below) Since mid 2023 I did a short term project for the same customer in a different BU, this project came with a welcome shift back to software engineering for me. I developed a new geo redundant database model for a Express.js application.

Throughout my time at Canonical, I served as a Dedicated Service Engineer and later transitioned into the role of a Dedicated Technical Account Manager. My primary focus was on a large pan-European Telco customer, where I played an integral role in planning, designing, and executing a highly successful OpenStack Cloud deployment deployed at scale across Europe.

We developed High-Availabilty and Auto-scaling for the Sophos Unified Thread Management appliance in the Amazon Cloud. Using mostly Ruby and a ton of Amazon technologies. The challenge was to bring a old style monolithic service into the new cloud world. We worked fully agile with Scrum and TDD.

Besides maintaining some IT infrastructure, I wrote Software for a Linux based Network Security Camera system product. I especially enjoyed improving stability and maintainability of the Linux subsystem. I really enjoyed applying my expertise in new fields like Embedded Linux and even some Frontend JavaScript, even though this was really not my background. I love new challenges.
