Part of a research group examining how networks themselves can perform workload distribution and provide computing resources, allowing better scaling and performance of large computing systems. Prototyped an FPGA based smartNIC provided by Silicom and Intel, setup build environment to synthesize the FPGA bitstream, and debugged network issues in Linux. Wrote basic outline of a testbench that will be used to verify behaviour of the FPGA using Cocotb

Part of the Data Solutions (IT) team, prototyping new systems which facilitated productivity. Developed an app which automatically printed labels for identifying and tracking lab equipment, as well as setting up an inventory database. Mainly written with Python and Flask, as well as setting up a basic HTML front. Set up an SQL database and designed a REST API to access it from other services. Feedback and requirements discussed with internal customers and integrated into the design throughout development.

Part of the Digital Motors team, supporting Software and Motor Engineers with calibrating electric motor startup. Main tasks involved analyzing motor controller hardware and software, as well as designing experiments in the lab to validate results. Eventually supported and advised other engineers on using the motor controller software.
