Climate Change Strategy Specialist (f/m/d) Part-time/Full-time
Your department
Helvetia is seeking an experienced Climate Change Strategy Specialist to help accelerate the implementation of our groupwide climate agenda. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the execution and continuous enhancement of our climate strategy and climate transition plan, ensuring it remains aligned with our Net Zero commitments and responsive to evolving science, market trends, and regulations. You will act as a subject-matter expert on climate change, serving as a key liaison for internal teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders. The role also calls for capabilities to support and advance work on nature-related topics and biodiversity, with a particular focus on understanding and addressing their interdependencies with climate change, contributing to a more holistic sustainability approach.
Your responsibility
- Support the implementation and ongoing development of Helvetia's groupwide climate strategy and climate transition plan, in close collaboration with the Senior Sustainability Strategy Lead
- Translate group goals into actionable local plans across markets, integrating climate- and nature-related considerations
- Advance methods for measuring and managing GHG emissions, including the footprint of insured activities, and help shape strategies for residual emissions (e.g., targeted investments, carbon credits)
- Identify, assess, and integrate climate- and nature-related risks and opportunities - including transition and physical risks - into underwriting, investments, claims, and operations, supporting resilient business decision-making and regulatory-aligned disclosures
- Partner with reporting and risk teams to deliver high-quality climate disclosures that meet evolving regulatory and market expectations, and support preparedness for emerging reporting standards (e.g., TCFD, TNFD, ESRS, FINMA)
- Monitor and interpret climate-related and environmental policy and regulatory developments, relevant internal stakeholders on implications
Your qualification
- Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability Management, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role with strong technical expertise in climate strategy, net-zero planning, climate transition plans, GHG measurement, carbon management, and climate-related risk assessment, ideally within insurance or financial services
- Understanding of nature-related topics and biodiversity and how they are interlinked with climate risks, opportunities, and resilience strategies
- Solid knowledge of regulatory frameworks and disclosure standards (TCFD, CSRD, FINMA, Paris Agreement); familiarity with TNFD is an advantage
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across functions and markets, and to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and external partners
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); knowledge of additional languages (German) is an advantage
