FST Int. Trade Affairs & Customs Regulations is a department in Group Tax responsible for developing and driving functional and operational excellence. This includes new initiatives and programs that align with our Finance and Tax vision, mission, strategy, plans and objectives.
The Int. Trade Affairs & Customs Regulations Manager will provide comprehensive guidance and support on various customs-related matters, ensuring compliance with global customs regulations and the optimisation of supply chain strategies.
FST is the single point of contact for customs and trade affairs and is the single decision taker on pharma customs classifications and the origin of goods for customs purposes within the Roche Group globally. FST issues guidance for inspections and court cases in customs and trade matters in Switzerland and abroad.
The Opportunity
In this position, you will be primarily accountable for consistently and effectively working on the areas listed below.
Customs: In this area your work encompasses pharma tariff classification, definition of customs origin, overview of and providing guidance to export and import documentation, analysis and governance of data elements stipulated in customs law and country specific regulations, giving guidance regarding related IT tools, as well as giving guidance in the preparation and taking the lead in customs inspections by Swiss customs authorities.
Trade affairs: Your focus will lie on Roche’s implementation of Free Trade Agreements and its pertaining data elements, giving guidance regarding related IT tools as well as giving guidance in preparation and taking the lead in trade inspections by Swiss or foreign customs authorities performed in Switzerland.
FST supports the comprehensive compliance management system and the preparation of an adequate corporate defence for all customs matters.
You will:
Act as an ambassador of the Code of Conduct on Customs and Trade
Strive to prevent, detect and respond to Pharma customs and trade non-compliance cases in the Roche Group. Provide expert advice and support to internal stakeholders on customs-related matters, including origin determination, HS classification, customs valuation, Incoterms, special customs procedures, and export/import documentation.
Establish procedures to monitor and react to external risks (e.g. change of legislation) and stay informed on changes in customs regulations and advise internal teams on necessary updates.
Verify transactions and deliverables on cross border activities on a risk based approach
Provide introductory, advanced level and bespoke training on customs and trade regulations to foster compliance
Establish and cultivate cross-functional relationships and work collaboratively with all internal/external partners and stakeholders
Audits and Risk Reviews: Contribute to customs audits and internal risk reviews.
Who you are:
Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Law or a related field. Advanced degree(s) or professional certification(s) in customs or trade compliance are a plus.
Background in business-, process- and change management.
Experience in customs compliance and international trade regulations is an advantage.
Knowledge of HS classification, origin determination, customs valuation, Incoterms, and related customs procedures.
Stakeholder oriented communication and training skills, with the ability to educate and upskill employees on customs compliance.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in IT systems and tools related to customs and trade compliance is preferred.
Proficiency in German and English required, other languages are a plus.
Furthermore, you have the ability to work collaboratively in a global team environment. You possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
