The Position
Scientist/Lab Manager (Organoid culture and phenotyping) - Institute of Human Biology
The Roche Institute of Human Biology (IHB) in Basel, Switzerland is looking for an experienced Scientist to help with lab management and research projects. We use single-cell genomic and imaging technologies, together with stem-cell-derived 2D and 3D model systems, to explore human development and disease. The Lab Manager will help oversee lab organization and support multiple collaborative research projects that aim to engineer, understand, and manipulate human organoid systems. This is an exciting opportunity to support the establishment and growth of a new and exciting Institute that brings together scientists and engineers from around the world, at the interface of academic, translation, and industry research.
The Opportunity
Support day to day activities in the lab and assist with onboarding and training of young scientists, maintaining order in the lab, coordinating lab cleaning, etc.
Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations by all lab members.
Maintain an overview on the organization of research projects, and interface with administration involved in budgets and legal agreements.
Support generation of high-quality results for peer-reviewed publications.
Who You Are
Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biotechnology, molecular biology, developmental biology or related field.
Extensive experience with stem cell and organoid culture, molecular biology, and/or single-cell and spatial genomic experiments.
Good understanding of stem cell biology and molecular biology is preferable, experience with molecular techniques is a plus.
Proven experience in conducting research, including designing, executing and interpreting experiments, as demonstrated by previous publications.
Outstanding organization and communication skills, strong passion and commitment to science and work well within a group.
Ability to prioritize, see the big picture and nevertheless focus on details.
Ability to work independently, quickly set up effective networks and working relationships.
