Our client is an established software company in the digital commerce environment, playing a key role in the technological infrastructure of its customers. As part of a comprehensive cloud transformation, the company is currently building a modern, scalable platform designed to support future growth, high-load scenarios, and innovative technologies such as AI.

To strengthen a newly formed architecture team, we are looking for an experienced Cloud Architect (m/f/d) who will actively shape the cloud strategy and significantly contribute to the company’s technical evolution.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and define modern cloud architectures with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure

• Translate business requirements into scalable and robust architectural solutions

• Build and structure cloud environments (e.g. multi-subscription setups, networking, and identity concepts)

• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code approaches (e.g. using Terraform) to enable standardization and automation

• Ensure high availability, resilience, and performance under heavy workloads

• Integrate architectural solutions into existing DevOps and CI/CD processes

• Support cloud migrations and the modernization of existing systems, including legacy environments

• Incorporate security, compliance, and governance requirements (security-by-design)

• Optimize cloud cost structures in line with FinOps principles

• Create technical documentation and advise/enable internal stakeholders

Your Profile

• Several years of experience (approx. 5+ years) in cloud architecture with a focus on Microsoft Azure

• Strong expertise in cloud-native technologies, containerization (e.g. Kubernetes), and scalable system architectures

• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform

• Familiarity with frameworks such as the Azure Well-Architected Framework or Cloud Adoption Framework

• Experience working with complex system landscapes and hybrid infrastructures (cloud & on-premises)

• Proficiency with tools and technologies such as GitHub Actions, YAML, Bash, or Bicep is a plus

• Structured and solution-oriented working style with the ability to collaborate across teams

• Strong English language skills

Nice to have:

• Azure certifications (e.g. AZ-104, AZ-305)

• Experience with additional cloud platforms

• Knowledge of cloud databases (e.g. Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL)

• Good German language skills are a plus

General Conditions

• Location: Remote or on-site (NRW) possible

• On-site presence: approx. once per quarter

• Contract type: Full-time

• Salary: up to €100,000
