As part of our German development team, you will support and coordinate permitting and spatial planning procedures for battery energy storage systems (BESS) and ground-mounted photovoltaic projects.
The role focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance, managing approval processes under German planning and environmental law, and coordinating with authorities and external planning offices to secure project readiness for construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and coordinate building permit procedures for battery storage and ground-mounted PV systems, including preparation of approval-relevant documentation.
- Contribute to the implementation planning of permitting-related content in accordance with German building and planning law.
- Manage service requests and tender processes for engineering and specialist planning services; review and process related invoices.
- Prepare, review and evaluate expert reports (Gutachten), ensuring compliance with deadlines, regulatory standards and internal quality requirements.
- Act as a point of contact for authorities (Behörden), municipalities and external planning offices; coordinate documentation and technical inputs.
- Conduct site assessments and potential area analyses using Q-GIS for BESS and open-space PV developments.
- Prepare site layouts and assess land suitability in line with regional planning requirements.
- Support the preparation of building applications (Bauanträge), urban development agreements (städtebauliche Verträge) and coordination of relevant stakeholders throughout the approval process.
Your Profile
- Completed university degree in urban planning, spatial planning (Raumplanung), landscape planning, geography, civil engineering, architecture or a comparable field.
- Initial professional experience in renewable energy project development is an advantage.
- Solid knowledge of German environmental and planning law, including relevant case law.
- Familiarity with approval procedures for renewable energy projects, such as building permit processes, urban land-use planning (Bauleitplanung) and procedures under the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG).
- Experience with battery storage systems and/or ground-mounted PV projects is highly desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including structured report writing.
- Practical experience with GIS tools, particularly Q-GIS.
- Structured, independent and solution-oriented working style with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in standard MS Office applications.
- Very good German language skills and good English proficiency.
