Full Professorship for ‘Evolution and Biodiversity of Plants’ (W3)
Working field:
We are looking for an internationally recognized personality with a strong research profile and excellent potential in the field of evolution in plant biodiversity, who is involved in national and international research collaborations in the field of modern plant evolutionary biology.
Possible research fields are: molecular evolution of plants, evolutionary developmental biology, evolution of plant signaling pathways and regulatory mechanisms, evolution of plant-environment interactions.
The scientific management of the Späth-Arboretum is associated with the position.
The professorship plays a central role in the research focus "Biodiversity and Evolution” of the Institute of Biology and is intended to strengthen and develop this focus. In addition, active participation in the research areas of 'optobiology' and/or 'quantitative biology in space and time' would be ideal. The Institute of Biology and the Faculty of Life Sciences offer a stimulating and very interdisciplinary research environment. Interactions with non-university research institutions such as Museum für Naturkunde - Leibniz Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity Science, as well as within the Berlin University Alliance are expressly desired.
The area of responsibility includes teaching in all relevant courses (Bachelor's degree programs in Biology, Master of Education in Biology, Master of Organismal Biology, Biodiversity and Evolution). Willingness to teach in English and German (possibly after a period of time to acquire sufficient language skills) is required. Active participation in academic self-administration is required.
The main office of the professorship is located in Berlin-Mitte on Campus Nord.
