Über diesen Job

What we do

Today, materials production accounts for 23% of GHG emissions and shows no sign of slowing down. Cambrium was founded under the belief that biology offers a better way. For material innovation in nature, biology turns to proteins. Over the past 4.3 billion years evolution has shaped proteins with every material property imaginable. From surfactants and hard surfaces, to gels and foams, to coatings and adhesives. We built our platform to speed up biology’s innovation cycle to make the materials the world needs in a timeline that matters. By programming proteins at scale, we create sustainable breakthrough materials for innovators across cosmetics, fashion and packaging.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and value diversity. We consider all applications equally regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, or gender identity. We strongly encourage individuals from groups traditionally underrepresented in tech to apply, and we can help with immigration.

Your role

  • Dedicated to scaling up existing low-throughput assays to high-throughput format (96/384-well) ensuring accuracy and reproducibility.
  • Converting high-throughput assays into automated processes on the liquid handler. Stringing together many processes involving multiple lab machines to build hands-off automated workflows.
  • Encouraging efficient lab data practices by developing processes to reliably transfer data from lab machinery to scientists at their desks.
  • Maintaining smart data structures to facilitate the downstream use of data for analysis, model training and visualisations for presentations.
  • Working independently in the lab as well as supporting other scientists with standard molecular biology techniques including, but not exclusively: cloning, PCR, transformation, NGS sample preparation and microbial culturing.

Your profile

  • Relevant bachelors degree (e.g. biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics) ideally with relevant internship experience OR two to three years of industry experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience with liquid handling machinery (e.g. Felix)
  • Strong understanding of molecular biological techniques such as PCR, cloning, nucleic acid extraction, sterile technique and microbial culture
  • An enthusiasm and affinity for big data, an interest in programming and a desire to set up automated workflows using lab machinery.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to maintain a well-functioning and efficient laboratory setting as well as an engineers mentality to lab machine maintenance and data processing/access.

What we offer

In addition to a competitive salary, you can expect the following:

  • Urban Sports Club Membership
  • Subsidy for Berlin Public Transport Pass
  • Regular team events
