About us
We at Match on Monday are hiring for an international, founder-owned software company with a “grown-up startup” mindset. The product is a mission-critical, multi-tenant white-label B2B2C SaaS platform used by serious customers and partners. You’ll join a skilled, collaborative engineering team with real ownership, working remote and/or from Berlin.
Tasks
Technical leadership & coaching
Lead and develop backend engineers through coaching, best practices, and hands-on collaboration
Help shape an engineering culture built on curiosity, kindness, craftsmanship, and constructive feedback
Backend engineering & architecture (Java)
Design and implement solutions primarily in Java with high impact and a high degree of autonomy
Make pragmatic architecture decisions and balance long-term quality with short-term delivery needs
Platform development
Maintain and enhance the core multi-tenant white-label B2B2C SaaS platform
Build new product capabilities with AI, either standalone or integrated into existing services
Quality & delivery
Continuously improve the development lifecycle with modern methods and technologies—individually and as a team
Propose, review, and improve solutions together with colleagues across disciplines
Review test cases, designs, and code developed by other team members
Ownership & cross-functional collaboration
Co-own significant parts of the runtime together with in-house SREs, embracing “you ship it – you own it”
Collaborate closely with Front-End, QA, Infrastructure, and Data teams on interfaces, shared definitions, and common objectives
Profile
5+ years of experience building Java backend systems, ideally with Spring, Hibernate, and modern development tooling
At least 1 year of experience in a lead role (e.g., Team Lead / Tech Lead) with responsibility for coaching, enabling others, and raising engineering standards
Experience in a startup or fast-moving product environment, comfortable adapting quickly and making progress through change
Confident taking systems from idea to production, including debugging and problem-solving across the stack
Experience with monoliths and microservices, including asynchronous communication (queues, events, messaging)
Practical use of AI tools for personal productivity and in what you build
Solid understanding of data structures, relational models, and different backend patterns—and the judgment to choose what fits best
Strong collaboration skills (clear written communication, pairing, whiteboarding/discussion)
Fluent in English
