Über diesen Job
Background
With the project Deepcloud, we will use the machine-learning revolution to better understand clouds and their role in the climate system. We aim to train a deep learning model on observations and physical models to represent cloud processes across scales from individual turbulent eddies to cloud systems spanning hundreds of kilometers. We will use this fully data-driven model to understand better how clouds respond to and influence climate change.
Your Tasks
- Develop, train, and apply the deepcloud model in collaboration with other team members
- Evaluate the physical realism of model results using theoretical understanding, physical models, and observations
- Use the model to investigate the behaviour of Arctic clouds in current and future climates
Your Profile
- PhD in physics, meteorology, or a related subject
- Background in cloud physics, boundary-layer processes, or turbulence studies
- Experience with handling large datasets, strong quantitative skills
- A high degree of creativity and scientific curiosity
- Basic knowledge in German (approximately equivalent to CEFR level A1 / A2)
- Very good English knowledge (approximately equivalent to CEFR level C1)
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- rigor in coding and scientific practice
