Job description: Scientific Programmer in deep learning model development (m/f/d/x)
Background
With the project Deepcloud, we will leverage the machine-learning revolution to better understand clouds and their role in the climate system. Our aim is to train a deep learning model on observations and physical models to represent cloud processes across scales from individual turbulent eddies to cloud systems spanning hundreds of kilometers. We will use this fully data-driven model to understand how clouds respond to and influence climate change.
Your Tasks
- Develop, train, and apply the Deepcloud model in collaboration with other team members
- Leading the code development for the core model
- Data preprocessing and training for diverse data sources, including observational datasets
Your Profile
- Master's degree in computational science, mathematics, physics, or a related subject, and several years of experience in software development
- Strong knowledge of Python, experience with handling large datasets, experience with high-performance computing infrastructures
- Basic knowledge in German (approximately equivalent to CEFR level A1 / A2)
- Very good English knowledge (approximately equivalent to CEFR level C1)
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- PhD in computational science, mathematics, physics, or a related subject
