The Chair is to bolster research in the field of medieval German studies with a focus on literary and cultural studies at TUD. It is to cover the period from the Middle Ages to the Early Modern period, open up productive links to modern German literary studies or other philologies represented at the university, and strengthen interdisciplinary connections to fields such as history and media studies.

You (m/f/x) will represent Medieval German Studies in the faculty's BA and MA degree programs as well as in teacher training programs for secondary schools, high schools, and vocational schools. We would also like to see you participating in the focus area of language and literature in the Digital Humanities MA degree programs. We expect your active cooperation at the Institute of German Studies and Media Cultures, in particular with regard to the continued development of the degree programs at the Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies as well as in academic self-administration. We look forward to receiving your proposals for interdisciplinary collaborations at the faculty, School, university, or the DRESDEN-concept research alliance.

You are expected to have a broad profile in German Medieval Studies and an interdisciplinary approach to cultural studies in your research. You should be open to issues in media studies and to both methods and concepts from the field of digital humanities. We very much welcome candidates who also demonstrate an interest in literature and cultural theory. Furthermore, we expect your commitment to acquire external funding.
