Über diesen Job

About us

European Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (ESMC) GmbH is the joint venture between TSMC, Bosch, Infineon and NXP. For the first time, global technology leader TSMC is building a semiconductor fab in the heart of Europe, offering cutting-edge manufacturing technologies for next-generation semiconductor products. ESMC represents a shared commitment to strengthening the European semiconductor ecosystem.

For our future fab in Dresden, we are looking for a highly motivated and committed:

Hardware Engineer (m/w/d)

Become the heart of our fab automation. The Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) will be the nervous system of our fab. As an AMHS Hardware Engineer, you’ll be a technical expert, designer, problem-solver, and team leader. You’ll ensure that our wafer transport systems (transfer tools, sorters, N2 systems) operate at maximum efficiency.

Tasks

  • You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement of our AMHS hardware.
  • For complex issues, you will conduct root cause analyses (8D, FMEA, SPC) and implement sustainable solutions.
  • You will lead cross-functional projects aimed at improving productivity, quality, and cost efficiency—from planning through to performance review.
  • You will evaluate new equipment and materials, work closely with suppliers, and develop in-house hardware solutions to meet operational needs.
  • You will lead and mentor a team of technicians and junior engineers, share your knowledge, and foster team spirit through clear communication.
  • You will actively assist with installation and coordinate upgrades in close collaboration with other departments.

Profile

  • You are a proactive team player who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is willing to take on responsibility.
  • A Master’s degree in Engineering, such as Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in the semiconductor industry is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of optimization algorithms, control systems, and mechanical automation.
  • Proficiency in quality tools such as SPC, FMEA, and 8D problem-solving.
  • Hands-on mentality, resilience, and the ability to motivate and lead teams professionally.
  • Fluent in English (company language). Basic communication skills in Mandarin or German is a plus.
  • Available for on-the-job training in Taiwan, 9 to 12 months.

We offer

  • Security & Perspective: A permanent employment contract and career advancement opportunities in one of Europe's leading semiconductors fabs.
  • Company Pension Plan & Financial Benefits: We support your financial well-being with our robust company pension plan. As an ESMC employee, you also benefit directly from TSMC’s performance through an exclusive Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
  • Relocation Support for Dresden: Moving for us? We’ll provide you with all the support you will need for your relocation and your start in Dresden.
  • Training & Development: Depending on your position, you will gain a deeper understanding of the processes involved in operating complex semiconductor equipment through unique hands-on training at the TSMC Newcomer Training Center, while continuously expanding your knowledge.
  • Health & Well-Being: An annual budget for your health and well-being (e.g., for sports classes, massages, or relaxation) helps you stay fit.
  • Meals & Transportation: Enjoy a daily meal allowance as well as a subsidized public transportation (e.g., for the Deutschlandticket) in Germany.
