Über diesen Job

Company Description

At CERN , the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.

Job Description

Introduction:

Are you an experienced training specialist with a keen interest in Health, Safety and Environmental protection? Do you want to contribute to one of the world’s most exciting scientific endeavours and make a lasting impact on the well-being of those who make it possible? Join CERN and play a key role in shaping the Safety culture at the heart of the largest particle physics research laboratory in the world.

The Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Protection ( HSE ) Unit is CERN’s centre of competence in all matters of Safety. It supports the entire Organization in the implementation of CERN’s Safety Policy.

You will join the Safety Training ( ST ) section of the HSE Unit, which delivers mission-critical Safety training to all CERN contributors. Within this section, as part of a dynamic and dedicated team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing CERN’s Safety training programmes. You will also support the Section Leader in overseeing daily operations and managing service providers.

Functions:

  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of the Safety training strategy, with the aim of fostering a strong Safety culture across the Organization.
  • Lead the analysis of training needs, the definition of coherent training programmes, and the design of engaging training and communication materials.
  • Drive continuous improvement by evaluating training effectiveness, optimising resources and integrating emerging trends and technologies into CERN’s Safety training.
  • Coordinate closely with Subject Matter Experts (SME), Safety Officers and the HR Learning & Development team to ensure training relevance and consistency.
  • Supervise one team member (e-learning developer) and contribute to the administration and evolution of CERN’s Learning Management System.
  • Assist the Section Leader in overseeing daily operations of the service and in managing the performance of learning service providers (e.g. supervision of trainers).

Qualifications

Master’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Learning & Development, Education Sciences, Communication, Occupational Safety or a related field.

Experience:

Mandatory:

  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing training activities; preferably in the Health, Safety and Environmental protection (HSE) domain.
  • Proficiency in digital learning tools supporting the full learning lifecycle (e.g., Learning Management System, design and authoring tools, data collection and analysis tools).
  • Experience in collaborating with multiple stakeholders in an international and multicultural work environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience in managing training-related projects or service contracts.
  • Experience in team supervision and development.
  • Experience in a technical and/or operational work environment.
  • Experience as a trainer.

Technical competencies:

  • Learning & Development: ability to develop and implement effective training programmes, and manage digital learning tools.
  • Organisation’s culture shaping: knowledge of the principles and mechanisms to promote a strong Safety culture across a diverse organisation.
  • Interactive media development: ability to design bespoke, engaging instructional and promotional materials.
  • Organisation, planning and control: ability to organise activities, plan resources, coordinate projects and supervise work effectively.
  • Customer service: ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and provide a professional, responsive service.

Behavioural competencies:

  • Achieving Results: being rigorous and producing quality results at first attempt; having a structured and organised approach towards work; being able to set priorities and plan tasks with results in mind.
  • Communicating Effectively: delivering presentations in a structured and clear way; adjusting style and content to the audience; responding calmly and confidently to questions; selecting the appropriate medium and forum to communicate.
  • Demonstrating Flexibility: adapting quickly and resourcefully to shifting priorities and requirements; readily absorbing new techniques and working practices; proposing new or improved ways of working; readily accepting new tasks or work/projects.
  • Working in Teams: gaining trust and collaboration from others; building and maintaining constructive and effective work relationships.
  • Working in the Interest of the Organization: actively promoting safety and encouraging others to do the same; respecting safety rules and procedures; demonstrating an awareness of how CERN works.

Language skills:

Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
