Research Associate (m/f/d)
for the field of "Explainable AI”
with a research focus on "Concept-Based Explanations”
The position is to be filled on a temporary basis in accordance with Section 2 of the WissZeitVG and Section 72 of the HessHG, with the opportunity for individual academic development, at the Chair of Applied Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, Institute of Computer Science, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Physics, and Geography. Subject to the collective agreement requirements, remuneration will be according to salary group 13 TV-H.
Provided the maximum permissible duration of fixed-term employment is not exceeded, you will generally be employed for an initial period of three years. An extension of up to a further two years is possible under the above-mentioned conditions.
Your tasks at a glance
- Own scientific and university didactic qualifications, scientific services in research and teaching according to § 72 HessHG
- Assumption of teaching duties in the areas of machine learning and software engineering in accordance with the teaching obligation regulations of the state of Hesse
- Research in the field of explainable artificial intelligence
- Writing scientific publications and presenting research results
- Supervision of students in exercises and final theses
Your qualifications and skills
- Completed university degree (Master's degree) in computer science or business informatics
- High analytical thinking skills
- Very good theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of machine learning
- Very good theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of explainable artificial intelligence ("Explainable AI”)
- Good theoretical and practical knowledge in software engineering
- Solid knowledge of at least one programming language relevant for machine learning (e.g. Python or R) as well as a "classical” object-oriented language (e.g. Java, C++, C#)
- Very good knowledge of scientific work and writing scientific texts in English, ideally demonstrated by own publications
- Good written and spoken English skills
- Strong interest and enjoyment in participating in research projects
- High motivation, personal responsibility, initiative and willingness to perform
- Strong social skills, especially in dealing with colleagues and partners
