At the University of Göttingen, Centre for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS), a position is available for a
Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow
(Wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft)
to support the DFG-funded research project -The Effect of Improvements in Agricultural Productivity on Child Labor: Theory and Empirical Evidence from the Green Revolution.- The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Dominik Naeher, based at the Chair of Development Economics and Global Health (Prof. Sebastian Vollmer).
The desired starting date is 1 December 2025. The total working hours can be agreed upon individually (up to a maximum of 85 h/month). The position is limited to one year and is intended to give recent Master-s graduates the opportunity to gain deeper insights into the world of economic research, enabling them to assess whether pursuing an academic career through a PhD in Germany or abroad is a desirable next step for them.
Your profile
- Successful completion of a Master-s degree in Development Economics with very good or good grades.
- Proven knowledge of quasi-experimental methods or theoretical economic modelling.
- Proficiency in statistical software (Stata or R) is essential; additional skills in spatial data analysis will be considered an asset.
- Prior experience as a research assistant (particularly in economic research related to India) and with labor force survey data is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of German is desirable.
- Ability to work independently with close attention to detail, responsibility, and a high level of self-organization.
