Description:

A postdoctoral position for neuro- and optophysiology is available at the Institute of Developmental Neurophysiology, University Medical Center Hamburg, Germany.

Our group investigates the wiring of neuronal circuits in the immature brain, its contribution to the development of cognitive and (multi)sensory abilities and its impairment associated with neuropsychiatric disorders ( www.opatzlab.com ).

We seek a Postdoctoral Neuroscientist to investigate the neural mechanisms of cognitive maturation in health and disease using state-of-the-art in vivo electrophysiology, imaging and optogenetics in rodents. The position offers an excellent opportunity to perform highly collaborative research within the Hamburg Center of Neuroscience ( www.hcns.eu ) and the DFG-funded Research Unit 5159 "Resolving the prefrontal circuits of cognitive flexibility” ( www.for5159.de ).

Qualified candidates should hold a Ph.D, M.D. or equivalent qualification, and should have outstanding certificates and very good publication record. Candidates are also expected to have significant experience in in vivo imaging /optogenetics / electrophysiology as well as strong background in mathematics with good programming and modelling experience. Good communication skills, creative and independent thinking are mandatory.
