Let's connect: If you want to experience how things are done in the GRM Actuarial Function P&C team at our headquarters in Hannover / Germany, join us on a temporary, part-time basis (15 - 19 HPW) for 24 months, commencing as soon as possible as a Working Student Mathematics Reserving Risks.
Our team analyzes and quantifies reserving risks for Hannover Re’s Property & Casualty insurance business. We also perform tasks of the actuarial function under Solvency II, the European regulatory framework for risk management and capital requirements. These include, in particular, the validation of technical provisions as well as contributions to internal and regulatory reporting. In doing so, we work closely with other Risk Management units and other specialist departments.
You can look forward to
- Contribute to the continuous development and implementation of automated processes for the calibration of reserving risks
- Support the preparation and execution of test cases for new applications and processes
- Assist with the introduction and migration of new systems and contribute to ensuring smooth implementation
- Contribute to quarterly reporting in Risk Management
- Collaborate closely with various specialist departments and gain insight into the diverse interfaces and interdependencies within our processes
- Support the team with ad hoc requests in line with the priorities of the Risk Function
You come equipped with
- Ongoing Master’s studies in Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or a comparable degree program with a quantitative focus
- Initial experience in the financial services or insurance industry through internships / working student positions or actuarial expertise, e.g. through DAV courses, is an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience working with databases
- Very good programming skills in Python as well as basic knowledge of R and Matlab
- German and English at a business-fluent level, combined with a good sense for collaboration in an international environment
- Ability to recognize complex interdependencies, quickly familiarize yourself with new subject areas and communicate findings in an understandable manner
