In this context, the Intelligent Digital Agents Unit focuses on the study and development of flexible technologies and prototypes of digital assistants in the sector of prevention and mental well-being.

Planned activities
The IDA Unit of the Digital Health and Well Being Center is looking for a motivated student (Bachelor’s, third year or higher, or Master’s level) with an interest in data analysis, particularly involving administrative healthcare data. The ideal candidate is a proactive and dynamic young person with good organizational and interpersonal skills, with a propensity for teamwork, motivated to undertake a training experience in an international context.
The intern will work with the Research Unit staff to support the following activities related to an administrative healthcare dataset:

Planned activities
The IDA Unit of the Digital Health and Well Being Center is looking for a motivated student (Bachelor’s, third year or higher, or Master’s level) with an interest in data analysis, particularly involving administrative healthcare data. The ideal candidate is a proactive and dynamic young person with good organizational and interpersonal skills, with a propensity for teamwork, motivated to undertake a training experience in an international context.
The intern will work with the Research Unit staff to support the following activities related to an administrative healthcare dataset:
- Data cleaning, transformation, visualization using SQL and Python/R.
- Exploratory analysis of healthcare service utilization.
- Apply clustering algorithms (e.g. K-Means, DBSCAN) to cluster patients based on service utilization, and evaluate quality of clusters.
- Model sequence of a patient healthcare events using techniques such as recurrent neural networks (RNN) to predict next likely service.
- Develop predictive models for hospital readmission risk using patient history, and evaluate different approaches such as logistic regression, random forest, gradient boosting.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in at least 3rd year of Bachelor’s program or pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. Familiarity with the healthcare domain is a plus, but not required.
- Working knowledge of SQL and at least one of the following programming languages: Python or R.
- Proficiency in English, as the internship will be conducted in English.
- Good relational and teamwork skills.
- Good organizational skills and analytical thinking.
- Internship start date: as soon as the suitable candidate is found
- Internship experience duration: 4 months
- The internship experience will take place at the FBK facilities in Povo
- We offer support in finding accommodation at affiliated facilities, in the case of off-site candidates
- We offer the possibility to use the internal canteen service
- Possible recognition of participation allowance
- Possibility of linking the internship with bachelor or master thesis
