We are seeking a person with proven experience and expertise in the field of photogrammetry and remote sensing. The future holder of the position should have a research focus on close-range photogrammetry (e.g., using drone and terrestrial LiDAR images) and advance the research field of photogrammetry, considering computer vision and artificial intelligence methods. Air- or spaceborne methods (image-based and ALS) should also be applied. He/she should also make a substantial contribution to the existing research focuses of the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry working group. In addition to technical and methodological development, this includes applied research in the field of climate-change-influenced processes in mountains and other application areas. Synergies with other the geodesy working groups (navigation, geoinformatics, satellite geodesy, and engineering geodesy) should be considered, as will the strategic priorities of TU Graz and the NAWI cooperation with Karl-Franzens University of Graz. Moreover, national and international collaborations beyond the Department of Geodesy should be developed.
The willingness to further develop the field of photogrammetry within the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry working group at the Institute of Geodesy is required, as well as the active participation in research projects at the institute or the relevant departments of TU Graz and the acquisition and operational management of research projects. Furthermore, a strong scientific record (publications and active participation in conferences and meetings) is expected.
Photogrammetry shall be taught (in German and English) in all areas of geodesy (Bachelor's, Master's, PhD, and continuing education) and in the NAWI Graz Master's programs (including Geospatial Technologies, Space Sciences, and Earth from Space). It is expected that, in addition to fundamental principles, the latest developments and technologies (drone-based technologies, computer vision, artificial intelligence, etc.), including practical applications, will be incorporated into teaching. Furthermore, service teaching will be further expanded, thus contributing to meeting the high demand for graduates. The willingness to supervise theses and support young researchers is required, as is the willingness to accept necessary administrative tasks in research and teaching.
The position is initially filled as a university assistant with a doctorate, working 40 hours per week, at the Institute of Geodesy, and expected to begin in February 2026. Upon conclusion of a qualification agreement, the position will be promoted to Assistant Professor. Upon fulfilment of the qualification agreement, the position will be converted to a permanent Associate Professor position.
We offer a position in the attractive environment of the Institute of Geodesy and Graz University of Technology with varied responsibilities, flexible working hours, and international training opportunities in a collegial and friendly working environment.

- Excellent qualification in research proven by scientific and subject-specific achievements, which can be demonstrated through international, peer-reviewed publications, as well as active publication activity and presentations at international and national conferences and meetings.
- Very good didactic skills for adequate implementation of teaching at Bachelor's and Master's level.
- Very good written and spoken German and English. If you do not yet have any knowledge of German, you are expected to be willing to acquire it.
