Role of Principal Engineer - Optical Design (Display and HOE) is opened both in Jena or Munich office.

Aufgabengebiet

Scope of the Principal Engineer - Optical Design (Display and HOE) :

• Conduct advanced research and design in wave-optics for HOEs and/or metasurfaces.
• Translate application requirements into design solutions, simulations, and prototypes.
• Develop proof-of-concept systems and support prototyping efforts.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in optics and automotive applications.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to drive innovation and meet business goals.
• Present and communicate design concepts and innovations to R&D executive board and internal stakeholders.

Technology Applications / Use Cases:

• Windshield-integrated holographic lenses
• Flat meta-lenses for compact LiDAR systems
• Optical beam shaping and polarization control
• Miniaturized optical modules for vehicle integration

Anforderungsprofil

Ideal Achievements made by the Principal Engineer - Optical Design (Display and HOE) :

Experience: 10+ years in wave-optics or geometric optics design, with a strong track record in HOEs or metasurfaces.

Education: Ph.D. in optics, photonics, physics, or a related field.

Technical Skills:

• Deep theoretical knowledge in wave optics; solid understanding of geometric optics.
• Nice to have expertise in : Coputer Generated Holograms (CGH), Design of RGB HOEs, refractive/diffractive microlenses, athermalisation of meta surfaces, design in visible-spectrum
• Proficiency in optical design and simulation tools such as VirtualLab, FDTD, COMSOL, Zemax, LightTools, CodeV.
• Programming experience in Python and/or MATLAB is a strong plus.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Skills for pitching, presenting to C-levels stakeholders from business or research, internal or client side.
• Enthusiastic about working in a collaborative, international environment.
