Asset Optimisation Manager
At Alpiq we are currently looking for an Asset Optimisation Manager to join us in our Lausanne office. Asset optimization is a particularly interesting activity, as it’s one of the key functions at the crossroads between production and trading.
For this position, the focus is to represent and defend Alpiq’s interests in the energy commissions of the Swiss Assets, developing concepts for the energy management and negotiate it with our partners on the different Partnerwerks. You also need to ensure that the Assets can fulfil the regulatory contexts, liaising with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Swissgrid, Partners) for energy related topics linked to the hydro and nuclear assets. Coordinating internal implementation of new processes or new market products impacting the production is also a key factor, along with contributing to the development of Asset Optimisation processes in order to bring added-value for the Asset Trading.
Your responsibilities
- Partnerwerks: Participation in energy commissions. Provide support to Asset Managers, defend Alpiq’s interests, negotiate with partners, Swissgrid, authorities. Liaise with internal stakeholder and processes.
- Energy mandate: Define concepts and regulations for the energy management mandate of the hydro and nuclear assets. Ensure that they are updated on a regular basis following regulatory changes. Be an expert in energy management for the swiss assets and support the development and implementation of internal processes.
- Internal implementation: coordinate implementation of new processes with the different stakeholders: Optimisers, Traders, Middle Office, Energy Accounting…
- Support to Asset Management: support for long-term valuation (investments, concessions…).
- Elaborate commercial contracts on Partner’s shares linked to the production assets.
Your profile
- Higher Degree in Engineering, Finance or similar fields
- At least 5 years of experience, ideally in energy economics, trading or asset management
- Comprehensive understanding of asset backet trading process, value chain, risk metrics
- Understanding of energy markets, in particular WE Europe
- Analytical skills, knowledge in modelling and valuation of flexible assets and options
- Programming skills in Python, VBA always welcome
- Knowledge of energy trading & optimisation IT application landscape
- Comfortable with legal aspects and contract
- Capability to formulate, structure and write documents and decision requests for C-Level audience, solid presentation and communication skills
- Project management skills, agile, waterfall a plus
- Great communication and collaboration skills, even when under pressure
- Fluency in English and German is required, additional French skills would be a plus
